Rules for Participants at the Silent Disco

1. Headphone Etiquette

  • Keep your headphones on: Always wear your headphones while in the event area. If you’re not wearing them, you won’t hear the music, and you’ll disrupt the experience for others.
  • Volume Control: Keep your headphone volume at a comfortable level. Ensure it’s low enough to prevent any hearing damage but high enough for you to enjoy the music.
  • Respect Others’ Volume: If you need to adjust your volume, do so quietly. Avoid disrupting others’ experience by adjusting your settings too loudly.

2. Respect the Space

  • Stay in Designated Areas: Respect event boundaries. Do not wander into restricted areas, such as staff zones, emergency exits, or backstage.
  • Be Mindful of Movement: While dancing and enjoying the music, be aware of the space around you. Avoid bumping into others, especially if the area is crowded.

3. Social Etiquette

  • Be Considerate of Others: Silent discos are about personal enjoyment but also collective respect. If you’re in close proximity to others, keep noise levels down and be mindful of body space.
  • No Loud Talking: Since the music is played through headphones, loud talking or shouting can disrupt the experience. Keep conversations quiet or take them outside the main dance area.
  • Non-Disruptive Dancing: Avoid overly aggressive or disruptive dancing that could impact other participants’ enjoyment. Enjoy yourself, but be respectful of others’ space.

4. Safety First

  • Hydrate Regularly: Make sure to drink plenty of water. Silent discos can be intense, and staying hydrated will help you maintain energy.
  • Look Out for Your Surroundings: Keep an eye out for potential hazards (e.g., uneven flooring, exits) while you’re dancing or moving through the space.
  • Stay in Control: If you feel light-headed, dizzy, or unwell, remove your headphones and step out of the main area to rest and rehydrate.

5. No Smoking or Vaping

  • Smoking and vaping are not permitted in the main dance area. Use designated smoking zones if available, and always be considerate of others.

6. Alcohol and Substance Use

  • Drink Responsibly: If alcohol is served at the event, please consume it in moderation. Excessive drinking can affect your coordination and safety while dancing.
  • Zero Tolerance for Drugs: The use of illegal substances is strictly prohibited. If you are seen using drugs, you will be escorted out of the event.
  • Know Your Limits: Listen to your body. If you’re feeling unwell or overconsumed, take a break and rest until you’re able to continue.

7. No Recording or Photography Without Permission

  • Be mindful of others’ privacy. Do not take photos or record videos without consent, especially if it’s disrupting the experience for others. Some events may have a “no recording” policy.

8. Respect the Code of Conduct

  • Be Friendly and Inclusive: Silent discos are about fun, dancing, and connection. Treat all participants with respect and kindness.
  • Harassment-Free Zone: Any form of harassment—whether verbal, physical, or emotional—will not be tolerated. Anyone engaging in inappropriate behavior will be asked to leave.

9. Environmental Responsibility

  • Dispose of Trash Properly: Keep the venue clean by using the provided trash and recycling bins. Don’t leave waste on the floor.
  • Be Mindful of Noise: While your headphones may be silent to others, be mindful of how loud you are when talking or moving. Let’s keep the noise levels low when out of the dance area.

10. Emergency Protocols

  • Know Emergency Exits: Familiarize yourself with the event layout, especially emergency exits, in case of an evacuation.
  • Report Issues Immediately: If you encounter any problems, accidents, or health emergencies, inform event staff right away.

Thank you for respecting the rules!
By following these guidelines, we can all have a great time, stay safe, and enjoy the magic of the silent disco experience. Keep dancing, stay groovy, and respect each other’s space.
